Most of a family protection dog’s work is not protection. It is living together. Tolerating being pulled by a four-year-old, accepting the cleaner, ignoring the courier, sleeping while the house is full.
A dog that cannot do this is not a family protection dog. It is a hazard indoors. That is why protection is the last thing we teach, never the first.
