Warranties

What we warrant

Two named warranties, written into the contract. And an honest list of what no warranty covers.

Health warranty

Every dog is delivered with a veterinary assessment carried out close to the delivery date, an up-to-date vaccination record, a deworming history, and a microchip fitted and registered. None of it stays with us: the paperwork goes with the dog.

The base guarantee covers, for ninety days, whatever the delivery veterinary assessment identifies. It does not cover what was not examined, and we state plainly what was examined for each dog.

Extended guarantee, when you ask for the test

Hip and elbow radiographs and a genetic panel are not part of the standard protocol. You may commission them, at additional cost, before delivery. Once the test is done, the hip dysplasia guarantee runs for twenty-four months, under the terms of the contract. We would rather offer this as your choice than claim a test we do not run.

Fit warranty

If, despite the whole process, the dog does not settle into your home, we take it back and work towards a solution, whether replacement or refund, as provided for in the contract.

This is almost never invoked, and the reason is the process: the mandatory visit, the long conversation and our willingness to turn a request down exist precisely so the wrong fit never happens.

What goes with the dog

One of our dogs arrives with its own history in writing. This is not a symbolic folder: each document exists so that someone else, a vet or a lawyer, can verify what we say.

  • Certificate of origin
  • Identification certificate, carrying the microchip number
  • Full veterinary history
  • Health certificate issued close to delivery
  • Vaccination record, showing the vet, batch and date of each dose
  • Deworming and antiparasitic history
  • Sale contract
  • Handover record
  • The Guardian Handbook

The microchip number appears on every document that matters. It is what ties the dog to the paperwork, not the other way round.

On pedigree there is one rule. When the line is registered with a kennel club, the pedigree goes with the dog. When it is not, we issue our own genealogical certificate and state plainly, on the document itself, that it is not a kennel club pedigree. A paper of ours never poses as somebody else’s.

What no warranty covers

We would rather say this now, in writing, than later, in a difficult conversation.

  • A dog is an animal, not equipment. No training makes the behaviour of a living being predictable in a hundred per cent of situations.

  • Legal responsibility for an animal rests with whoever holds it. On receiving the dog, that responsibility becomes yours, and we prepare you for it.

  • A finished dog in the hands of an owner who abandons the protocol unlearns. Maintenance is not optional in practice, however optional it may be in the contract.

  • We do not promise the dog will never err. We promise it was selected, trained and assessed to err as little as possible, and we show you the record of how.

Full terms, periods and conditions are set out in the sale contract, delivered before any payment.
